Audrey reaches for everything these days. Her toys? Not as interesting. Things are much more interesting if they're new and shiny.
Audrey learned to do this with David's hat, and we've built up to the block. I may regret teaching her this skill when I want her to wear a hat this summer.
Gunter love

While I was feeding Audrey at 2am this morning, Gunter came in and laid down in her room - that I remember. Apparently I forgot to call him when I put her back to bed and closed the door, so pup was trapped in the room for the rest of the night. Oops. This morning when Audrey woke us up with her talking, (around 8am) David found her on her side with both arms through the bars of the crib, reaching towards Gunter.
She loves her doggie.
And so it begins…

At 5 1/2 months old, Audrey has her first encounter with rice cereal.
A few random happenings

Audrey loves the early Christmas gift from her Great Uncle Walt and Aunt Karen!
On a completely different note:
On the first Sunday of Advent, I went out looking for candles. Smiths and Whole Foods failed me, but I finally found a set-up at Michaels. Not the right color candles, but it'll do.
Thanksgiving 2011

Thanksgiving this year was again held in Salt Lake City. Unlike last year (when I was 11 weeks pregnant), I was feeling spry and healthy, so was able to cook and play, and enjoy time with family! My parents, brother, sister-in-law, and cousin Chris all came for the celebration. Chris is on the tail end of his world travels, headed home to Sydney soon, and was able to make time to come out to Salt Lake. It has apparently been 8 (yes, eight) years since I had seen Chris. How is that possible?! He's so good at keeping in contact and visiting my parents that I feel like we've seen more of each other.
On Wednesday, before Chris arrived, we took Gunter for a hike in Mill Creek Canyon (on the Pipeline). Thursday was a day of food, visiting with each other, and touring Salt Lake. Friday we blitzed through some strategically planned Black Friday shopping (divide and conquer), went snowshoeing in Big Cottonwood Canyon, went out to dinner, and played some Cranium. Adam and Bethany were the Cranium champs. Now Chris has headed back to LA, Adam and Bethany leave tomorrow morning, and my parents leave tomorrow night. It's been a fun visit and a wonderful holiday. I am thankful for many blessings in my life, but especially for wonderful family and dear friends. Here are some pictures of the people I'm lucky enough to be related to.
And in conclusion, here's a goodbye dance.
Cute story

I was working in the kitchen one day last week and Audrey was up, so I put her into the Bumbo seat with some toys to join me in the kitchen. She was sitting next to Gunter's water dish. She played for a few minutes before Gunter came in for a drink of water, which interested Audrey, so she leaned over and watched him drink. After a few laps of water I heard Audrey start laughing, still watching Gunter. Apparently a dog drinking is quite funny close-up.
Wait, I didn’t put up Halloween pics?!

Exersaucer

Often when I go into the daycare I find Audrey in the exersaucer, jumping around and playing with the toys. She loves it!

Parley’s Canyon / Tanner Park

Our plans to go to the off-leash dog park were foiled on Saturday by snow, so when it was sunny and beautiful on Sunday we packed up and headed out.
Audrey wore her new boots and jacket to stay warm, Gunter just ran.
Gunter was very well behaved, considering his impulse-control issues and the many many dogs we passed. He said hi and was friendly with all, and he came back to us when we called and received lavish praise every time he did. We walked around for about an hour before heading home.
